Book Review

My Reflection:
I was learning to write a book review. I found it easy remember the authors name. It was easy to do the rating. I found it hard to think of who I would recommend the book to. I think I need to work on adding more detail into my answers.

Suffixes

My Reflection: I was learning about suffixes. I found it easy highlighting the suffix. I found it hard trying to find out what the word meant. I want to work on trying to find out what the sentence would be for the word and writing it down.

Flower Artwork

My Reflection:
I was learning to create a piece of art using multi-media. I found it hard to trace the pencil with a vivid onto the box.  I found it easy to paint the quarters onto my box. I want to work on creating better patterns on the box.

Doubling and Halving

My Reflection:
I was learning the doubling and halving strategy for multiplication questions.
I found hard trying to know which number to double and halve.
I found easy putting the dotes on to make the arrays.
I want to work on this strategy still.

Hockey Skills

My Reflection:  
I was learning about different skills during six hockey workshops. I have learnt Indian dribbling and passing. I found easy passing the ball to Kaan. I found hard trying to get away from other players. I want to work on to try and tackle someone that always tackle me.

My Speech

My Reflection I was learning to write a persuasive speech. I found it easy to think about my topic. I found it hard to find some research to use in my speech. I want to work on my researching skills.

Retelling Timeline

My Reflection:
I was learning to retell the story. I found retelling the story hard because I had to read the story again so I could get more information. I found it easy to say what happened in the story. I need to work on writing more detail about the characters when I am retelling the story.

My Reflection:
I was learning to summarise a story. I found writing the what happened in the story easy because I know what it was. I want to work on writing longer sentences.

Number Squares

My Reflection:
I was learning to add two numbers together.
I found adding the inside part hard because I was confused what numbers to add together.
I found the outside easier because it was easy to know which numbers to add and they were smaller numbers.
I want to work on adding together the higher numbers.

Reading Around The World Challenge.

My Reflection:
I was learning to research a country that was in the Olympics. I used skimming and scanning to help me. I want to work on using skimming and scanning.  I found hard researching the question to find the answer. I found easy finding out the Prime Minister. I want to work on the facts about the country.

There, their and they're homophones

My Reflection:
I was learning my there their and they're homophones.
Homophones are words that sound the same but mean different things
I found hard trying to remember the meanings for the words. I found easy writing the correct homophones in the right place. I won't to work on writing the correct there and their and they're.

Fractured Fairytale

My Reflection:
I was learning to compare a traditional fairy tale with a fractured fairy tale. I had to compare the characters, the setting and the plot.
I found it harder to write about the fractured fairy tale because I didn't know it as much,
I found it easier to write about the traditional one because I have heard it lots of times.
I want to work on adding more detail when writing about the fractured fairy tale.

Olympic Tagul

My Reflection:
I was learning to extend my Olympic vocabulary by thinking of an Olympic related word for each letter in the alphabet. I found it hard to think of words for these letters G, J, S. I found it easy to think of words for the letters A, O and Z. I need to work on finding the right Olympic words.

Matariki Acrostic Poem

My Reflection:
I was learning to write an acrostic poem for Matariki,
I found the letter M the easiest.
I found it hard to write a sentence for I because there was two of them. I found it easy to write it for the last I.
I want to work on acrostic poems that have more than one of the same letter.

Basic Fractions

My Reflection:
I was learning about basic fractions.
I found founding the shape for the fractions easy.
I found getting the fraction for one eighth hard.
I want to work on finding the half and understanding harder fractions.

Bike Skills and Rugby Skills

My Reflection: I was learning to compare bike skills and rugby skills when writing. I found it hard to write using paragraphs and to add detail. I found it easy to choose what I wanted to write about. I want to work on making sure I have an introduction before I start writing my paragraphs.

Pepeha Art

My Reflection:
I was learning to create a visual representation of my Pepeha.
I found it hard colouring in the mountain because I didn't fill all the white spaces in.
I found drawing the mountain easy because I no how to draw a mountain.
I want to work on making sure that I fill the white spaces in the next art work and also practicing drawing some Maori patterns.

Boggle

My Reflection: I was learning to find words in the grid to get points. It was easy to find the words, but it was hard to find big words that gave me more points. I was proud that I got 31 but my goal was to get over 40. I want to work on finding words that will get me to this goal.

Metre Activity

My Reflection: I was learning to use a metre ruler. I had never used one before so this was new for me. I found measuring hard because I really don"t know a lot about measurement. I found finding stuff that I could measure easy. I need to work on mesmerising objects properly.

Extending Vocabulary

My Reflection:
I found finding the word in the dictionary tricky because I needed help. I found some words easy because I know the word already. I want to work on doing it by my self because I didn't do it by my self last time. My next step is to do independence work when finding the definitions of words.

Earth Amazing Environment

My Reflection I found understanding the questions hard. I found understanding information about the environments hard. I need to work on learning more about the different environment. I think I am good at using key words when I research.

The Junkyard Dog

My Reflection:
I was learning to summarise the story. I found it easy reading the book. I found it hard understanding all the parts of the book I want to work on writing more detail in my answers.

Te Tuhi Visit

My Reflection:
In term 1 I went to Te Tuhi. We did the Wish You Were Here workshop. This in my picture. I enjoyed drawing it.

Scared Of The Dark

My Reflection: I was learning to respond to my book. It was hard to find the meaning. I need to work on using a dictionary.

My Reflection: I found it hard to find the answer. I need to work on splitting my numbers.

Welcome to my Year 4 learning blog. This year I am in Room 13 and my teacher is Miss Kulik. I enjoy maths. This year I am looking forward to gymnastics. I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
